The Art of Procrastination

“Procrastination is an art!”

The old man said to me

“It makes you stop instead of start –

Try it now with me.”

“Not I,” said I

With shaking head

And tapping at my wrist:

“I have so many things to do!

I even made a list.”

“That’s for the dull.” The old man said:

“Surely you can see?

Look wider; look outside your head,

And slow things down like me.”

“I’ve stuff to do.”

I frowned at him.

“Like writing books on time!

I can’t sit around like you all day

Wasting time on rhyme.”

I think he understood me here

For he stood as if to go.

“Job done,” said he, but

“I’ll be back. See you tomorrow.”
